Special thanks to one of our committee members, Steve Singleton for sharing his Welcome Home Story. My name is Steve Singleton and I am a retired Navy Commander, having served for 23 years. My wife and I moved to Clarksville to be closer to family and because of the support the military and veterans receive in the community. Since arriving here five years ago, we have thrown ourselves into a number of community activities, including veteran, Masonic and civic organizations.
When I was a little girl, I can remember my Daddy telling me about being a sailor on a ship in WWII. He didn't talk much about it, and I was only 15 years old when he passed away, but I clearly remember how proud he was that he served our country. I can also remember hearing stories from my mom about her mother having five sons fighting in the war at the same time and how they all came home. Patriotism was a big thing in my family and has always been part of my core. Less
